Week 3

As promised…our Autumn sketching.

What do you think?
We were very proud of ourselves.

This week it was Gabby's choice for baking . She chose meringues.   We used Gayle's  beater to beat the mixture until it looked like marshmallow! It was tasty even before we put the mixture in the oven!

Ryan kept a close eye on watching the mixture go from a liquid to marshmallow.

All ready for the oven tray….

We used baking paper on the baking tray then put spoonfuls of mixture on it.

Guess what we have been licking…….yes the spoon and bowl!!!!

Now to whip the cream to put on top of the meringue….

Delicious!!!!

Scrumptious!!!

Yum…can I please have another….

Paul came today to show us how to make a whistle from a carrot.
He came with a carrot, drill and knife.
All went well until the final stage…there was no whistling sound so…..he went home to try making it again.        Remember Paul 'keep on trying".
He will come back again to make one for everyone once he has worked out how to get a sound from the carrot.

We also had a trip to the Museum to look and learn all about early Maori housing.
We are going to compare our homes with the early Maori homes……mmm….can you guess what is going to be the same.
Next week we will go and look at the homes that we live in and do a comparison.

Term 2 Week 2

Kia Ora,

We have continued on with our Autumn theme by sketching  Autumn leaves.

Have you ever looked really closely at a leaf?

There is a line  that goes through the middle of the leaf...it looks like  a spine  with ribs coming off it!!!    Just like our body!!!

Sorry there are no photos of them but they will be here by next week!
We think that you will be impressed!!

We had such a wonderful time on Tuesday with Kaitoro time.
There were so many activities to choose from.
We all really enjoy this time especially when we get to act out in the different dress ups that we have.

Playing cards with Rachel....

Making chocolate biscuits.....

Flu injections for teddy and the doll....

Afternoon Programme bakery....

Today it was Aaron's choice for baking or cooking.   He chose sausages so we got busy and cooked them in the oven.

While they were cooking we learnt how to set a table.

We made little holes in the sausage with a fork so that the sausage wouldn't split open.....

Into the oven......

Table set so now we just have to wait for the sausage.....

Using a knife and fork...

The sausages were delicious especially with tomato sauce. We are hoping that we can do this again.

Have a superb weekend everyone.

Autumn fun at St James Park!

Tuesday was a stunning Autumn day so what better way to spend it but a walk to St James Park to have some Autumn fun!!

There were leaves everywhere that had fallen from the deciduous trees. They made a crunching sound when we walked on them.

We had SO much fun covering up each other with leaves...you could only see our heads!

Gabby was first up.....

Still more leaves needed for Aaron.....

Hi Aieshar...

Look at Ryan.....

Meagan don't go to sleep!!!!

It was fun putting the leaves into a huge pile.    When it was completed we all jumped into the pile and got covered in leaves.
We looked like leaf monsters!!!!

There were two small boys playing at the park with their mum. They came and joined in with our fun.

On the way back to school we collected leaves and acorns. With the 'hats' of the acorns we made hedgehogs. We used the hot glue gun to make the acorn hats stick to the cardboard.
Then we crumpled up the leaves and glued them around the hedgehogs feet.
Did you know that hedgehogs hibernate in Winter?

Drawing the hedgehog...

We are hoping that Aieshar is having a wonderful time at camp with her class. She will be back tomorrow and will be able to tell us all about it on Monday afternoon for news.

Fingers crossed for this magic Autumn weather to continue for the weekend!!!

End of term!

Wow! Wow! Wow!

What a huge week we have had!!!

On  Monday we celebrated with our friends from ESOL.
They came to visit us and learn what we had been learning about this term.
We showed them our conducting and then they had a turn .
Then we did our favourite...shredding paper to music.
We then sat and shared afternoon tea.
It was a very special afternoon making connections with them.
There were heaps of smiles from them so we guessed that they had enjoyed their time with us.

Tuesday saw us celebrating Luke B's last week with us.

He chose to have a party, so we played games and had delicious food.
Then we shared our thoughts on what we thought of Luke. We are really going to miss him as we all thought he was one very thoughtful person.
At the end of our ceremony Luke was presented with a piece of greenstone from us all.

We played pin the tail on the cat...Luke choice

Now it's time for some food...

Time to tell Luke all the wonderful things that we think about him...

Luke  ...we are going to miss you!

Opening his gift...
Wednesday saw the school celebrating our Arts term.
We had so many visitors coming to see us . We told them all about our favourite for the term...shredding paper to music and then everyone had a turn.
Oh my goodness...it was amazing seeing so many happy people!!!

So here we are at the end of yet another fabulous term.

Enjoy the holidays everyone.....have fun and keep safe.

Gabby, Luke B, Luke U, Aieshar, Ryan, Meagan and Aaron.

Whoops!!

Nearly forgot!

We made a super card for Chris, telling her how wonderful we think she is and then we all went to her class and sang our goodbye song for her. We wish her all the best and hope that she will come back and visit us one day.

Meagan sang a song to Chris...it was beautiful.

Last hugs.....
