Welcome Back!

Apologies for no blog last week but the network was down.

A big welcome to the eighth member of our group....Luke Usendorff.

It's great to be back and what an exciting first week we had!!

Thanks to the generosity of the PTA we opened six new boxes of Duplo on the first day back.
There were eight very excited children !!
Thanks PTA.

This week we had a visit from Mrs Tansey and her  four dogs...Texas,Kenya, Chemo and Clutha.

They were very friendly which was fantastic as some of us are a bit nervous around dogs!

Texas and Clutha were very good at tricks and retrieving a ball.

We all had a turn at brushing them and giving them lots of cuddles.

Rachel was very brave patting Kenya.
Clutha showed us all of his tricks....
                                                                           He can dance!!!!

Then on Thursday we were off to the SPCA. The animals there aren't as lucky as Texas, Kenya,Chemo and Clutha.
They are looking for a happy home to go to. They were all so pleased to see us but looked really sad when we said goodbye to them. We wished that we could have taken them back to school with us!!!!

We learnt that it is a big responsibility to own a pet and you have to take great care of them...brushing,feeding,walking and loving them.
We hope that all of the cats, dogs and rabbits at the SPCA will soon find a new home where they will be loved.

The holidays have arrived!

It has been a strange week in the Afternoon Programme with four of the children away on camp.
We have missed them.

On Monday we all went to MacDonalds as a big thank you to our amazing SUPERSTARS for all their hard work during the term and the wonderful concert that they put on.

To finish off our 'Spring' topic we went on a Spring walk to see what we could find.

Some peoples gardens were full of beautiful Spring flowers, so now we know what azaleas, matchheads, blossom, magnolias, daffodils, tulips, freesias and rhododendrons look like.

Thanks Katelyn for lifting everyone up so that they could touch the blossom!
Spring is here!

We loved the way this lamp post had been decorated.

We hope that you all have a safe holiday...have lots of fun.

See you all next term.

Take care.

Gayle, Rachel,Jacob, Luke,Aieshar,Katelyn,George,Jeremy and Rachel.

Pukeko Week!

We have been very busy practising and preparing for for our concert next Thursday night.
If you would like to come and see us performing we would love to see you. The performance starts at 6.30pm and afterwards we are going to have supper.

Yesterday we used a sewing machine for the first time.
Some of us were very nervous at first  as it was a new experience .
We really had to concentrate really hard on what we were doing.

Once we got the 'hang' of it we were on fire!!
It was hard work holding the material and working the pedal at the same time!

Gayle and Rachel thought that we were amazing....perhaps some of us might end up in the fashion industry!!!

We hope that you will come and see us on the 20th at 6.30 pm.

Spring has arrived!

Spring is finally here so we all went to Botanical Gardens to see the daffodils and blossom.

We took our lunch and then had a play at the playground before we went daffodil hunting.

George came and met us at the Gardens. It was great to see him as he has been away sick and we have missed him!

We all had fun climbing up the blossom tree.

We were amazed at how many daffodils there were at the Gardens...they were everywhere!
We enjoyed our afternoon out especially when it was such a lovely Spring day.

OUT ON A PUKEKO HUNT!

On Wednesday we all went to the Travis Wetlands to look for Pukekos.

We walked around the Wetlands....there were Pukekos everywhere!

They have beautiful blue/purple feathers,a red/orange beak and funny feet.....not webbed like a duck.

A very large black swan came out of the water and started to walk over towards us.He didn't look very friendly so we kept on walking.

There were lookouts for us to go into and observe all the wild life...they didn't know that we were there watching them.
It was very quiet and still.

If you haven't been to the Travis Wetlands we think that you should choose a sunny day to go there for a visit.
