The holidays have arrived!

It is hard to believe that 2012 is drawing to a close.

The last two days of the Afternoon Programme were filled with Christmas treats.
We went and visited Santa's Grotto much to the delight of the children..watching their faces as they went through the Grotto was one of pure delight...they were all so animated!
After the Grotto we all headed to the park to have an ice-cream and farewell Jacob as he is off to Breens Intermediate.

Jacob we are all going to miss you. It has been a pleasure having you in the Afternoon Programme and it will take a a while  getting used to not seeing your smiley face!
We all wish you happy times at Breens.

To all those who read this blog,we wish you a very Merry Christmas and hope that it is filled with lots of fun and laughter.

Take care and we will be back' blogging' in February.

Christmas is on it's way!!

With Christmas just around the corner it was time to put up the Christmas tree this week.

Learning Support was filled with Christmas music and great excitement!

Aieshar was away but the children left some decorations for her to put on the tree the next day.
How is that for caring about one another!!! These children are truly SUPER STARS!!!!

A and P Show

We hope that you all enjoyed your long weekend.

Last Thursday we all had a fun day at the A and P Show.

The smell of the animals didn't appeal to some of us but it was amazing being able to pat and cuddle so many different animals.

Aieshar would have stayed all day with the lambs
She thought that they were very soft and cuddly.
This dog just loved all the attention from Katelyn!

There was so much to see at the show. We climbed on tractors, talked to the lady in the Ambulance, watched horses  jumping over fences, saw very strong men chopping wood and had heaps of fun dancing to the music.
Luke B was fantastic...he was a real tidy kiwi and went around collecting rubbish.
We were all VERY tired when we got back to school!!!!!
We watched  Carrot and Pickle's show. They are very funny clowns.

Here is our super duper tidy kiwi out looking for rubbish!

Sunflowers

Last week we planted sunflower seeds and already they have started to grow.

For art this week we drew sunflowers with pastels and then dyed them, In the middle of the sunflowers we glued on poppy seeds to make them look like  real sunflowers!

Gayle and Rachel said that we were fantastic artists! They were very proud of our work.

Wednesday arrived and we were once again participating in Get Out, Get On,Be Challenged.

We had some laughs trying to jump in our sacks for the sack race!

We have  missed George and Luke this week and hope that they will be back soon.

Friday 2 November 2012

Apologies again!!!!!!

Sorry there are no photos this week as there has been issues with downloading!

We have had a very busy week.

On Wednesday we were all super stars at the Athletics.....we certainly lived up to this terms, Get Out. Get On. Be Challenged.
We all gave it our best and had a great time participating.

Our cutting skills have also been "tested" this week....we planted sunflower seeds and then got busy with the scissors cutting out petals....we are going to all make our own beautiful sunflower!

On Thursday we were just about to start making Easy Egg Tarts when we had a surprise visit from a hen and her four chicks. They were all so cute and soft, What a treat getting to hold them.

Then it was back in to make our tarts.....they had eggs, ham, cheese and parsley in them. They were very scrummy! It is a shame we haven't got any photos to show you but they were so easy to make that we will all be able to make them at home for lunch one day!!.

Welcome Back!

Apologies for no blog last week but the network was down.

A big welcome to the eighth member of our group....Luke Usendorff.

It's great to be back and what an exciting first week we had!!

Thanks to the generosity of the PTA we opened six new boxes of Duplo on the first day back.
There were eight very excited children !!
Thanks PTA.

This week we had a visit from Mrs Tansey and her  four dogs...Texas,Kenya, Chemo and Clutha.

They were very friendly which was fantastic as some of us are a bit nervous around dogs!

Texas and Clutha were very good at tricks and retrieving a ball.

We all had a turn at brushing them and giving them lots of cuddles.

Rachel was very brave patting Kenya.
Clutha showed us all of his tricks....
                                                                           He can dance!!!!

Then on Thursday we were off to the SPCA. The animals there aren't as lucky as Texas, Kenya,Chemo and Clutha.
They are looking for a happy home to go to. They were all so pleased to see us but looked really sad when we said goodbye to them. We wished that we could have taken them back to school with us!!!!

We learnt that it is a big responsibility to own a pet and you have to take great care of them...brushing,feeding,walking and loving them.
We hope that all of the cats, dogs and rabbits at the SPCA will soon find a new home where they will be loved.

The holidays have arrived!

It has been a strange week in the Afternoon Programme with four of the children away on camp.
We have missed them.

On Monday we all went to MacDonalds as a big thank you to our amazing SUPERSTARS for all their hard work during the term and the wonderful concert that they put on.

To finish off our 'Spring' topic we went on a Spring walk to see what we could find.

Some peoples gardens were full of beautiful Spring flowers, so now we know what azaleas, matchheads, blossom, magnolias, daffodils, tulips, freesias and rhododendrons look like.

Thanks Katelyn for lifting everyone up so that they could touch the blossom!
Spring is here!

We loved the way this lamp post had been decorated.

We hope that you all have a safe holiday...have lots of fun.

See you all next term.

Take care.

Gayle, Rachel,Jacob, Luke,Aieshar,Katelyn,George,Jeremy and Rachel.
