They have arrived!!!!

Yes today is the last day of the term and what a term it has been.

Our learning has skyrocketed about connecting with the Arts in our City of Christchurch.

We have also had the courage to get up in front of an audience and perform to them.

This took heaps of courage and practise.

It was decided to celebrate this courage with a celebration!!

Guess what we had?........yes a party!!!   Whoo Hoo!!

We were all able to choose one type of food...so we had cherrioes, chips, chocolate chip muffins, ice cream,  chocolate milk, marshmallows and lollies.

After we had filled out tummys with this scrummy food we sat around and chatted about our learning for the term and what part we had enjoyed the most.

Of course we all thought that this was a wonderful way to end the term!!!

Our ESOL friends came to visit us on Wednesday. They were all dressed up in their national costume and looked magnificent.

Gabby had a connection with one of the students. It was Miguel.....he is from Spain.

They told us which country they were from then they showed us where that country was on our world map.

The countries that they came from were......Spain, South Africa, Israel, Fiji, Samoa, Afghanistan, Korea, Romania, Brazil, Japan and the Philippines.

Margarette showed where the Philippines were......

  Our gorgeous Denise and Sairusi

And here we have Afghanistan...thanks Mariam.

What a wonderful way to end our Connecting with the Arts term.

Thank you for coming to visit us.

And now it's time to say goodbye for two weeks.

Enjoy your holidays ...have fun because we are!!!

See you all next term!

Gabby, Luke, Aaron, Aieshar, Luke U and Ethan.

OUR BIG DAY OUT!!!

OUR BIG DAY OUT CONNECTING WITH OUR CITY.....

Phew it has been a HUGE week!!!

We seem to have been practising for today for weeks...yes weeks!

But it all paid off as we entertained our audience at the Library today.

Part of our display on graffiti at the Library...

We met Edith the guide dog when we arrived at the Library.....

She loved us ...her tail didn't stop wagging. Her owner told us that Edith loved children.

A few pukekos filling in time while they waited for their turn  to sing and dance.

Time to introduce ourselves and do the Pukeko Stomp
Now for the colour song with our parents....we were the best listeners!!!! They found it hard listening and doing the right actions!!!   They were laughing so much we think they didn't hear the words!!!!!

Lunch at the Commons.....

Time for  the trip back to school in a double decker bus!!!

Pukekos connecting with a pukeko of a different kind.....this one was made with bottle tops.

We all arrived back at school very tired but we had a fabulous day connecting with all of our school friends as we performed different items for our big arts day in our city.

We are sure that we will all sleep well tonight....probably Mary and Gayle will too!!!

Oh My Goodness......

We hope that you are warm and dry after the terrible change in the weather this afternoon!

As you know we all went into the city to look at the different types of graffiti.

Well this week we had a plan.......do actually do some graffiti!

There are two steps to this process.....and we did step one yesterday.

We have all drawn a picture of our house and next week we will graffiti them.

This will be the graffiti that we DON'T like!!

What we disliked the most about the 'bad' graffiti was the damage that is done to people's property.

We think that it is a terrible thing to damage other peoples property so we are wondering how we are going to feel on Monday when we graffiti over our 'homes'.

At Kaitoro time today we had an emergency hospital.....Aieshar was the patient and Gabby was the doctor.

We don't think that Gabby applied enough  anaesthetic as there were lots of giggles coming from the patient!!

Enjoy your weekend everyone.
We hope that the weather is going to improve for us all!!!!

Some of our thoughts......

As you know last week we went into the City to find what graffiti really looked like.

This is what we thought....

Some graffiti was really bad because.
It destroys property.
It was everywhere..windows, fences and buildings.
It looks untidy.
The people who do this have no thoughts about other peoples property.
We wouldn't like it done at our house.
We were sad, angry and worried.

            BUT

There was some great graffiti around.
It added colour to broken buildings.
It was creativeSome of it told a story.
Some of the characters were from TV and games.
We wondered if they had been given permission to do this,
It turned a boring place into something great to look at.

We have completed our sewing.
Haven't we done a fantastic job?

Time for drama again as we all wanted to try out the different characters in the story.
Luke had amazing conversations with his customers and was a very helpful shop keeper.

Aaron was a very Grededy Cat!

Aieshar had some great deals going!

This Greedy cat was very keen to get some pats from the audience.

Our narrator....Luke

These three are practising really hard for their Monday Meet Up debut.

Talk to you next week.....we are nearly at the end of the term.
