Kia Ora everyone

Last week we promised to let you know about names for our tadpoles.
We all thought of name and then we took a vote ....and here they are...Bloom, Abigail, Lily, Lex, Jack and Sonic.
We hope you like the names that we have chosen and will watch with us how the tadpoles are progressing with their growth.

Latest progress report is that two tadpoles now how their back and front legs. Soon we will have to put the lid on the tank as they will start to hop out and we don't want that!!

This photo isn't very clear but you can see the tadpoles back legs.

This year we will be putting together a series of art work entitled 'Seasons' for the wall in Learning Support.
On Monday we were very creative and designed a poster about what we think Summer is all about.
We ripped up paper for the sea, Aieshar used blue paint for the sky, we had golden sand from Dunedin to make the beach and cut out people from magazines .
We even put a man and lady getting married on the beach !!!

We were really thrilled how our poster turned out!

Looks like the weather is going to hold out for the weekend so hope everyone is able to get out and enjoy it!!

Six new additions!!

Kia Ora,

Rachel has been very busy on Trade Me and now we are the very proud owners of six tadpoles!

For science this term we are going to learn all about the life cycle of the frog...already two of the tadpoles have grown their  back legs.
This is very exciting as they are starting to change  into a frog already!

We are really looking forward to watching them grow into frogs and learning lots of facts about them.

Some of us want to give them names but as yet we haven't done that...will let you know next week what names we come up with.

First we had to fill the tank with water.

Out of the plastic bag and into the tank!

Their new home...

Looks like they are settling in okay!

I wish that they would be still for a bit so I can count them!

Welcome tadpoles

You only need to give them a small amount of food every day

Feeding time..

This is very cool...look at that ones back legs!

I can see six tadpoles!

We missed George and Luke this week....they were away sick. Fingers crossed that we will see them next week.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

WEEK 2

Kia Ora,

Gayle was going to tell you about our holidays this week but we decided that we wanted you to know about some of the things that we have done this week instead.

Last year the PTA gave us some money to go and buy a sand tray. It arrived this week and on Wednesday we opened it up and put it together ...with the help of Rachel!

It was very exciting...but even more exciting was that on Thursday we all went to Toy World and spent the money that some senior students raised for us last year on animals for the sand tray.
We chose dinosaurs, farm animals and wild animals.

Rachel was first up to open the box!

Mmm...what are these? I know its the instructions!

Aaron what can you find in there?

Katelyn sorted all the bits and pieces that we needed to put the tray together.
We learnt the difference between a nut and a screw.

We had to work as a team to assemble the tray

The instructions!

Aaron hard at work put the draining tap on

Team work at its best!!

Aaron was in his element!!

Great work Aieshar

Nearly there....

Complete!!!!

Boy oh boy...we cant wait for Monday to use our new equipment.
A very big thank you PTA and the girls from Room 14 in 2013.
We are all VERY happy!!!

WECOME BACK!! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!

Kia ora,
We are all really pleased to be back at school after our long holiday break.
We  hope that everyone out there that reads our blog has had a wonderful holiday too.

It has been a really short week, so we have spent it telling one another what we have been doing in the holidays and drawing some amazing 'holiday' pictures. Next week we will write a story about our holiday so perhaps Gayle will let you know on the blog next week what we got up to.

Room 15 came to visit on Tuesday because they are thinking that they might like to have a turn of looking after our chinchillas. On Monday we have a meeting with Room 15 to answer all their questions about Emily and Mr Jumpy.
Since we won't be having the chinchillas we thought it would be interesting to get tadpoles and watch then grow into frogs...now we just have to find some tadpoles!!!

Thats all from us this week.....it really is great to be back . We are looking forward to an exciting term.
I wonder what we are going to learn about?    Watch this space and we will let you know!
