MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!

There has been great excitement this week....Christmas is nearly here and we have have done som really cool things this week.

The highlight for us was going up to Northlands Mall.

We had all chosen to go to the Elephant Park for our final get together and have fish and chips but the weather wasn't kind to us so the next choice was going to the Mall to McDonalds.

When we arrived at the mall we saw this ginormous TV screen and wondered what it was for.
We watched what was happening and then all decided to go and have a turn.
Oh my goodness...it was so much fun.  We all laughed and danced. It was called Winter Wonderland.
If you haven't been you should go and have some fun there.

Here we go...watching ourselves on the big screen.....

Wow!!! Movie stars!!

Then we all went down to McDonalds where we were given money so that we could go up on our own and order what we wanted.
We had great manners and wonderful eye contact.
We had the choice of choosing either an ice cream or fries.

After we had eaten we all had a turn at wishing Ethan all the best for his new school and telling him all things we loved about him.

Luke telling Ethan how much he will be missed...

Gabby's turn to farewell Ethan

Yesterday we packed up the Christmas tree and gathered together all the goodies that we have made for our parents.

We hope our parents enjoy the sweet treats that we made for them and the decorations and card.
We really enjoyed making these for them.

Well thats about all from us for 2015.
We hope that you have enjoyed reading about what we have learning and what we have achieved.

We wont forget what has been said to us MANY times this year........Keep on trying !!!

Wishing you all a happy Christmas and a fun New Year.
Keep safe and we will be back in 2016.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Giving Christmas joy......

On Monday we all went to Wesley Care Rest Home to entertain the residents there.

We felt a little nervous when we saw how many people were in the room!!!
But everyone was so friendly and we soon forgot about those butterflies in our stomachs!!

We started with an old favourite...Pukeko Stomp and then sang  Christmas songs that we had been practising.

The first Christmas song was I'm A Little Star.      We got Mrs Jenkins mother and Luke B's mum up to take  part.   They had to hold a decoration up while we sang about the decoration then danced around them.

Luke's mum being a star!
When we sang  We All Clap Hands Together the residents all joined in. It was wonderful seeing the smiles on their faces

During the song Christmas Is A Season Of Love we went and shook peoples hands and wished them a Merry Christmas.

Mrs Jenkins gorgeous mum....she smiled all through our performance.

Aaron took a shine to this gentleman..

Mrs Jenkins mum Barbara and Luke U

Having a chat....

After we had finished we were all given a gorgeous Christmas card that the residents had made for us.

When we came out of the building we sat on the grass and talked about how we felt about our performance.

This is what we said....
"I thought it was a nice thing to do to go and see the old people"......Luke B
"I enjoyed saying Merry Christmas to the old people".....Luke U
"I liked singing to the old people"....Aieshar
"I liked seeing Mrs Jenkins mum and when she held the candle"....Gabby
"I liked getting dressed up in the pukeko costume and performing Pukeko Stomp to the elderly people"....Ryan
"It was good to shake their hands and wishing them a Merry Christmas"....Aieshar
"We had a good time singing at the Rest Home"....Ethan

We all felt very proud of ourselves. Yes we were a bit nervous to start with but once we started singing we were all fine.

Rachel, Gayle and Paul were all blown away by how amazing we were. They thought we were super stars!

And because we were super stars and had finished earlier than expected we went to the Elephant Park and had a quick play and an ice block!! Yay!!!  A fabulous way to end a fabulous afternoon.

Making the old people smile made us realise that you don't have to give gifts to make someone happy.
We all felt so good about going somewhere to make people smile.

One week to go and school will be over for 2015!!

Christmas is on it's way!!!!

'Christmas is a time for love,

A time for being with the people you really love,

                                           So open your hearts

                                            And let the giving begin

Cause then you will know the true meaning of

                                                                    Christmas.

We have been practising this song and many others as next week we are off to entertain the residents at Wesley Care Rest Home.

So to get us in the real spirit of Christmas we put up our tree and decorated it!!

First we had to assemble the tree

Right!!! Now for the decorations….

Now to get the decorations out of the cupboard….

Mmm….I think I will find a special place for this

We sang Christmas songs as we decorated the tree. It was so much fun!!

I think this tree is looking very beautiful..

Luke was so busy…he found the box with all the window decorations and  decorated the window all by himself!!

After we had finished decorating the tree we got very creative with the box that the tree was in.

We all had such a fun afternoon working together as a team to make Learning Support look so amazing with all of the decorations. We were all very pleased with our work!

Now for decorations for the table….

We are wondering if Luke B is going to go to Design school as he was very creative with the decorations. WE all helped with the table but Luke did the final tweaking.

'Lets join hands around the world

And be together in peace and harmony

We will open our hearts

And let the giving begin

And then we will  know the true meaning of Christmas'.

Yes Christmas is about giving but it doesn't have to be just giving gifts…..

That is why we are going on Monday to entertain the elderly as we think they will love us coming to see the.

We will let you know next week how it went.

Week 7

Have you ever tried listening to sounds being made that you cant see?

That is what we did this week for the final of our senses.

It was the sense of hearing.

We sat looking one way while Gayle made different sounds behind us.
You should try this....it is quite a hard thing to do because you cant see what is going on!!!

We all knew what this was...water being poured into a bowl.

Thinking, thinking.....some were quite hard to work out.

Aieshar knew this one!

Yes! We all know what that is.

Ive got it....

Spoons banging together.

Rakau sticks ...what a noise they make!

We got this one....it was air  freshener being sprayed

We know this...the sound of a tambourine.
After listening to all of the different sounds we all sat very quietly and listened to the sounds that we could hear in our room.

You should try sitting very still for a short time and see what you can hear around you.

You hear so many sounds that you wouldn't  normally hear if you were in a busy room.
We found that Learning Support makes a lot of creaky sounds.....we hadn't heard these until we sat very quietly.

Enjoy your weekend....it looks like it is going to be very windy so be careful out there.
